32.5.Bibliographical notes
quickinfo

The terms deictic, inherent and absolute adposition are taken from Grabowski & Weiß (1995) and Levelt (1996). The vector analysis of spatial adpositions is taken from a series of papers by Zwarts (1994a/1994b/1995/1996/1997b), Zwarts & Winter (1997) and Helmantel (1998/2002). Jackendoffʼs work (1983/1990/) has been a source of inspiration in many ways. A more technical but good overview of a number of more recent semantic approaches to adpositions can be found in Gehrke (2008: §2.2). We are grateful to Maaike Beliën (2014) for her review of the earlier published version of this part on adpositional phrases: we benefited from some of her critical comments in preparing the revision of the present chapter. However, because auxiliary selection is a property of verbal projections and not of predicative PPs, our response to Beliën’s extensive commentary on this issue is not found here, but in Section V2.1.2, sub IV, which was still in press when she wrote her review. We would also like to thank Barbiers (2005) for his review of an earlier interim report of this part of SoD, which led to certain clarifications in Sections 33.4 and 35.1.
