27.6. Bibliographical notes
quickinfo

Attributive inflection has received a great deal of attention in traditional grammar; the discussion in this chapter draws heavily on the description in Haeseryn et al. (1997). The description of the ordering of attributive adjectives relative to each other and to other prenominal elements within the nominal projection has been studied extensively in the structuralist tradition; we refer the reader in particular to Van der Lubbe (1978) and Paardekooper (1986). These issues have also received considerable attention within the generative tradition: important studies on Dutch are Van Gestel (1986) and Kester (1994b/1996); Valois (2006/2017) provides a more general review of the generative literature on this topic. N-ellipsis has also received much attention in the generative tradition; Lobeck (2006), Lobeck & Sleeman (2017), and Saab (2018) provide more general reviews of the literature and discuss various alternative theoretical approaches to the problem; Corver and Van Koppen (2019) provide a concise review of the Dutch data. Kester (1996) and Corver & Van Koppen (2011) provide a discussion of N-ellipsis in terms of the pro analysis presented in Lobeck (1995). Finally, we would like to refer the reader to the more general and theoretical discussion of attributive adjectives in Alexiadou (2007: part III) for references to several more theoretical approaches to the issues discussed in this chapter.
