This section discusses the noun-phrase internal syntactic distribution of heel. Sections 21.2.2.1 and 21.2.2.2 examine the properties of predeterminer bare heel and postdeterminer inflectible heel, respectively. Section 21.2.2.3 provides a brief comparison between heel and its variant geheel. Quantificational heel can also alternate with the archaic form gans, which will not be discussed here because it does not occur in modern usage except in the frozen expression van ganser hartewholeheartedly (where it does not actually alternate with heel).
